Four Day Summary

Mushroom and Pepperoni Pizza

My four days off went quickly this week. My washer died on Friday night so we went into Victoria on Tuesday to shop for a new one. We made a quick decision on a washer and dryer, finding what we wanted in the first appliance store. Moe was happy that he didn't have be dragged through three or four more stores. We ended up in "China Town" for a Dim Sum lunch. Before leaving for Victoria on Tuesday morning, I put a leg of pork in the oven to slow roast. We shared dinner with our neighbours. Roast pork, squash, mashed potatoes and gravy, and broccoli. No pictures.

I didn't cooked dinner on Wednesday night as we had had a late lunch out.

Just before bed on Wednesday night I took one of my sourdough starters out of the fridge and fed it. And rather than toss the extra away I used it to make a biga. This is what the biga looked like in the morning. Four ounces of starter, 1 1/2 cups of flour and a cup of water. As you can see from all the bubbling going on , my starter is very active even when it hasn't been fed for more than a week.

I used the biga to make a large batch of dough some of which got used to make two pizzas last night. Took them next door to the neighbours and watched a little of the Briars, the men's curling tournament. Both pizza's were mushroom and pepperoni.

I also kneaded up a second batch of dough and baked four loaves of French bread.

  2. WW, I haven't had the time to make pizza in several months. And your picture certainly makes me want to jump in my car and drive over to your place.
