Prawn and Avocado Salad

We drove down to Victoria today to drop off at my son's apartment some of the chocolate Easter eggs and the Perogies that I made last week. We had a wonderful Dim Sum lunch in Chinatown and ate way too much. Rather than make a big dinner I made Moe the salad that he requested - Prawn and Avocado Salad. The same salad that my friend Lori made tonight. You can find the recipe on Lori's blog All that Splatters.

I bought frozen Spotted Prawns. The spotted prawn season is due to open again the second week of May. It is a short season and is usually finished by the end of June. I'm not a big fan of shrimp but I love the local spotted prawns.

  1. Great minds!! I love this salad. Thanks so much for sharing it with me. Your photo of the frozen prawns is amazing!

  2. I agree the prawn photo is terrific! I might have bought them just for that! Although I have had that salad and we love it.

  3. Ann that looks marvelous...I wish we could get those prawns here...
Delish! We love shrimp and avocado salad!

  4. this looks like a great light dinner for summer evenings on the back deck. Jason thanks you Ann!

  5. Wow, this is such a beautiful post Ann! I love how you've captured the light (but the food drew me in first!) :) Such beautiful presentation of fabulously fresh food.

Pssst...I'm so envious ~ BC has some of the best Dim Sum I've ever eaten (rivaling San Francisco, even.)

So true, Lori! You two ~ GMTA!!

  6. I love spotted prawn season! I look forward to it all year long. Sad that the season is so short. They are beautiful and so, so tasty. And prawns and avocado are a fabulous combination. Beautiful photos!
