French Dip Sandwiches

Made from leftover Prime Rib.

I love French Dip/Beef Dip Sandwiches.
But the beef has to be sliced very, very thin.

The only way to get beef this thin is to
bring out the "Machine".

I have had this commercial slicer for going on 20 years.
Bought when we lived in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.

It was bought for one task - to slice paper thin slices
of the best homemade Italian Salami I have ever tasted.
Rick's homemade Salami was worthy of having it's own machine.

Because it is a pain to clean, I only pull it out when only it will do.

Sandwiches served with Au Jus and homemade fries.

  2. I had my first beef dip when I moved to Alberta. Every restaurant had it on the menu. It is comfort food epitomized.

  3. Oh, how wonderful it would be to have a slicer! French Dips are heavenly! I just made French Dip sandwiches with our leftover tenderloin...I may need to cook another just to have sandwiches!

  4. I had leftover prime rib as well and also made French Dip sandwiches. I still had more meat left so I used it in a Mexican meal of tacos--really special and wonderful!
